::I found the Windhoek Railway Station a pleasant location to spend some time to take photos on an early Sunday summers morning when it was still cool. The photographic opportunities on site took my thoughts back to the past. Besides the historic building one can find steam and diesel locomotives and other relics from the railway stations past at this location. Apparently the first railway line to reach Windhoek was the one from Swakopmund which was built in 1902 during Imperial Germany's colonial rule of German South West Africa. This line was extended to Walvis Bay in 1914. In 1906 Lüderitz was connected via Keetmanshoop wwhich was connected in 1912. A railway to Gobabis was build in 1930. Windhoek is connected to a number of towns in the north of Namibia via the railway junction in Kranzberg, which lies on the Windhoek-Swakopmund-Walvis Bay route. I personally would have liked to see a cleaner surroundings. Most of what I saw was however in fair condition and I was happy to take quite a fe photographs.

::A boring railway line compared to fast life in Johannesburg and Pretoria, really.
